Paleface and the Jyväskylä Big Band bring a tailor-made performance to Ilokivi Venue, featuring a set primarily made up of songs from Paleface's breakthrough album Helsinki–Shangri-La (2010), which broke genre boundaries. The show promises to be a dazzling spectacle that will make you want to get up and dance to the beat of this massive ensemble.
Paleface, also known as Karri Miettinen, is a pioneer of Finnish rap music and an internationally recognized artist. His career began with the release of The Pale Ontologist in 2001, which became a classic in Finnish hip hop. Paleface’s fourth album, the Finnish-language Helsinki–Shangri-La, made history, earning critical acclaim and multiple awards, including three Emma Awards and a nomination for the Nordic Music Prize. The album includes famous tracks like Helsinki–Shangri-La, Talonomistaja, and Syntyny rellestää.
The Jyväskylä Big Band is one of Finland’s most active big bands. It has collaborated with many international soloists and composers, and has also produced multidisciplinary works. In addition to its own concerts, JBB has toured extensively around Finland, performing in clubs, concert halls, and festivals. The band’s conductor and artistic director since 1995 has been Ilkka Mäkitalo.
